‘Winter Garden’ by William Amor X Marine Peyre, Marriott Hotel Arc de Triomphe – Paris
For Paris Design Week 2018, William Amor, an artist who transforms discarded materials into objects of beauty, joins forces with designer Marine Peyre to create a ‘Winter Garden’ at the Marriott Paris Wagram Hotel.
Marine Peyre has created a small living room decorated with a printed fabric, which is a-bloom with the artist’s message-laden creations. William Amor, renowned for his work in giving discarded materials and plastic waste new life by transforming them into floral works of art, showcases his photographic work, which centres on his signature pieces.
Designer Marine Peyre unveils her latest seating design, ‘U Chair’, which is covered with a floral print fabric created using photographs taken by the artist. The flower literally envelops the piece of furniture, giving the impression that it has the ability to swallow us up. It is an aesthetic that pushes the boundaries of kitsch realism, amplified by the choice of a velvet fabric juxtaposed with the minimalist accuracy of the lines and contours of the ‘U Chair’.
A burst of colour from a curtain, also featuring a floral print, creates a sense of scale through the interplay between the chairs and the surrounding space, and sets a scene that will be further enhanced by William Amor’s creations.
