“SYMBIOSE” Maison BALSAN X William Amor – Paris
William Amor beckons us into his world of poetic activism through illustration that celebrates the natural patterns found in living organisms and the affinities they share.
For this collaboration, the artist took inspiration from the complex regular structures of mushrooms and coral. Lines, scrolls and curves together form an architectural framework showcasing the sophistication and ingenuity of nature’s design. The artist has chosen magenta as the base colour of the monochromatic scheme, the interplay of shades creating reliefs, shadows and volume. ‘Symbiose’ becomes an organic pattern, its structures intertwining, merging, connecting and unfurling like a city found in a dreamscape, the close union of each element achieving total harmony.
William Amor employs his artistic signature, creating something beautiful and poetic from discarded materials and everyday waste, to depict the metaphor of symbiosis. In this installation, other-wordly flowers created from the scraps and offcuts produced by Maison Balsan bloom out of this organic carpet-cum-city, made out of Econyl®, a regenerated nylon that contains discarded fishing nets that would otherwise be polluting our oceans.
“Symbiosis”is a story told by two narrators who share a mutual love and respect for nature and French heritage.
